If you are in receipt of qualifying income related benefits and live in a privately owned home, you may be entitled to a boiler replacement or heating grant from the Heat Project. If your home is privately rented, you cannot receive a boiler upgrade grant, but if it has an EPC rating of A, B, C, D or E, we can offer insulation grants, and grants to install first time central heating.
If your home already has a boiler, including oil, LPG and solid fuel boilers, then we may be able to offer you a grant towards its replacement if it is currently broken down or running inefficiently. If you have storage heaters or no heating at all, then we may be able to offer you a grant towards the cost of a full central heating system.
In some cases the work is free but in order to confirm this we need to undertake a free survey of your home to calculate the cost of the works and the amount of grant that we can obtain. We can usually give you a rough idea if the work is likely to be free by asking a few questions about your home such as the size and type of home, levels of existing insulation and the type of existing heating that you have.
To find out if you are eligible for a heating grant, please go to our benefits checker page. If you believe that you are eligible, it could speed up your application if you then fill in our short benefits check form which enables us to verify with the Department of Work and Pensions that your benefits are eligible.
